It is in fact frozen, vacuum packed, mixed vodka and orange juice.
4x4 trips are usually hot and difficult - so we prepare our drinks in advance and I chuck the strips of frozen "sustenance" in my 4x4 freezer with the beers and everybody is kept happy by just dunking his/her hand in there every so often during the day
The big bag hanging off the chair contains the few strips left after a day's play ....................... come to think of it it may actually have been what you thought!
