And maybe more mainstream Muslims will get smart and shout down the radicals instead of standing by and letting them take the bully pulpit.
This is a huge problem in the Muslim world and if unchecked the baby will end up going out with the bathwater.

I think there are many Muslims who would like to and sometimes do standup against the radicals, but many also got dead, and most are subject to pressure and threats, deliverable threats, that we never hear about or are aware of. More violence has been done in the name of religion than in the name of anything else, whereas religion has, in reality, had nothing to do with it.

Precisely. At various times it's been religion, culture, economics, tribal affiliation and even hair color (Easter Island).
