Driving by school busses?

My father wanted to know in how many countries it’s against the law to drive past school busses that are letting children off.

I answered that I only heard about it to be like that in the US….

So my question is:

How is it in your country?

Even in the US there are variations in this law. My neighbor recently had to pay a $145 ticket because his 21 year old son passed a stopped bus.

Why him? Because they didn't get a look at the driver and the fathers name was still on the cars title even though he wasn't on the tags or insurance as the registered driver

My father is gathering info and such to put some pressure on the swedish organisation that decides about trafiklaws...

no fine here, pass them anytime you want. that's probably because you rarely see a school bus here.
ps. just looked it up: no fine, but when you pass the bus while it is "taking off" (dont know the proper word) it is between 5-30€.

Update

The Law in Ontario: Conviction for failure to stop when required carries the following penalties: for a first offence, a fine of $400 to $2,000 and six demerit points; for each subsequent offence, a fine of $1,000 to $4,000 and six demerit points and possibly up to six months imprisonment.

In Portugal, nothing will happen to you... unless you actually ran on someone... and most people seem to feel an urge to accelerate and run from the scene when things go wrong.
They usually say that Portugal is country of mild behavior, which for most tourist means "peaceful"... to me, it means "I don´t want trouble no matter what it is". And that explains why, when you see the news, the first thing they talk about is football... then comes the rest. And for those who think this has nothing to do with gettig a fine for passing by a schoolbus... well, it has everything to do it it. This is the country of "everything is alright", which is really exasperating.

I think every country needs fees like canada has. I mean what good is a fee if yu get to pay 25 EUR. But if you call the copper names, it'll go into the thousands!?

It's a serious offence here. Most people end up in prison AND get fined way more than 4000$.

So? In Canada you can't have a TV dish or say "bad things" to people without being accused of some kind of human rights violation either

What the hell are you talking about?

What I menat is that Canada has strict rules to protect our kids. Now dr.Mordrid, is that so wrong?

Where I live it is againist the law to pass any school bus that is stopped and either taking on or letting off kids no matter which direction you are approaching the bus from. In other words if you see a bus stopped with those red lights flashing you better stop.
