to 'Politics Are Us'? With the majority of the post being so political in nature lately I was just wondering what y'all thought.

Seriously, politics is one big subject but it's still just 1 topic. The soapbox is for a myriad of things other than politics (such as: being bored @ work, jokes, Liz, women in general, health etc.)
I don't see how 1 topic, as big issue as it might be should take over the entire forum.Comment

No - the "Soap Box" nicely reminds me of what (still) goes on in Hyde Park Corner - if anyone is ever in London on a Sunday, go and listen - lots of political preaching going on, and quite fun to watch...

Bringing back the old...
Me thinks we should attempt the old suggestion of creating a forum called 'The Toilet Bowl.' Anyone who posts political, racial or relegious threads that blow up (which most of them do), people can vote to 'FLUSH IT' and off it goes to The Toilet Bowl.
There people can be whatever type of id10t they feel like without disrupting the Soap Box.

Yeah, this wouldn't be bad. There are a couple of threads that I'd have liked to have continued, despite ongoing spam intefering with the topic. Rather than just lock it before it gets troublesome, you could shove it in the "Crapper" - although if it does get very offensive, it might still have to get deleted. Can't have racist etc opinions being expressed on MURC...can we?
