I'd also have to say by avatar. A lot of "interesting" MURCers have equally interesting avatars, and as I'm also on a very fast connection, they show up instantly. I'm glad the whole family of parhelia-avatars has gone; now that was confusing.
As Zokespro has said: there are some classics (Technoid: always the same "style", so that helps).
