In telstra's defence, they do have to pay for all the traffic to and from Oz, on the under water fiber's. And there arn't that many of them.

That asside, the equipment is hellishly expensive. Yes by world standards it is over priced, but the population distribution in Australia helps increase the cost.

All that taken into account, yes Ziggy is a scum bag

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

      Yay,

Telstra finally provisioned our ADSL. That means that is still going to take a couple of days to connect (thats telstra for ya), but at least I know that I am not going to have to wait for them to install a new DSLAM (is that what the access points in the exchange are called) in the exchange.

      So, almost there

I can already see a marked improvement in the quality of your posts when compared to before.

Yep, I post faster, so I have to become more dyslexic to compensate

Took your ADSL best part of 21 minutes to respond - rather slow - I would say its due for a service or something - dont you think?

Notice how mine took only 3 minutes - much faster.

Already? Gee, they don't make them like they used to...

"When I was a young whippersnapper, our good old ADSL modem used to run forever one to smell of an oily rag. You kids nowadays, with ya fancy modern ADSL modems, constantly needing service and attention. Just to be fasionable!"

I see its getting better though - perhaps it just needs a bit of running-in.

also using telstra... took me two months, I'm in Canberra, the nations capital, and it's so damned hard to get anything done around here!
but yes, I also found it to be close to cheaper to use DSL...

                        Werdna,

They must be following the government's example in Canberra.
