I didn't vote, because there wasn't an option saying both are correct, and it's a silly argument.

Anyhow, if anyone wants to know, it's called a trunk because way back in the timey days, people lashed one of those large pieces of luggage known as a trunk on the back of their cars to put things in. Now someone tell me the origin of hood/bonnet and boot.
