the beurocrats would probably sting us because we are not attatched to continental europe and so we could employ thousands of civil servants to look over it as we like doing in brittain, half of brits seem to work to pay for the other half to do irrelevent nonsense for the government(and good on you if you can get em to pay you to do sod all!)

...two weeks since Ant's post, would be nice to know what's happening. Naturally he has to work out a new framework, check out the personal ramifications, etc., but it would be nice to hear a noise here and there just to know he's alive.
I've been lurking this site for many years, picked up lots of goodies and enjoyed the fun. Now I've joined and helping pay for the party is part of being at the party.

Ummm havent posted in a while, but been checking the fori regularily, i`m in for the donation. Giving 20$/eur a year is a small thing for keeping the best fori on the web alive.
Hell, if we collect more cash than needed, Ant can use some of it for upgrading the system or whatever, and keep the rest as a compensation for funding MURC out of his own pocket for the past years. That`d be fine by me.
Then, if this works out, we can work out a general amount of money needed per active member per year (based on the amount of members who donated and the money collected).

The same was done in germany. Earlier you could get a Pizza for 7-12 DM, now it's 6-10€ (=12-20 DM). Talk about inflation.
Well, this was to be expected. Put some economically stronger and some weaker coountries together and you'll get a median. Of course those which were stronger will lose a bit.
(But with our current government we might even take some profit from the Euro in the future since they managed to put us in the last place in Europe according to economic data and those dumb germans look like they will make it even worse, creating a socialist/green/communist government after the next elections
!!)
