Hi guys. I've been reading this forum for a while now & thought it's about time I registered & said hello to you all, especially with the imminant arrival or Parhelia.

I've been a fan of Matrox cards ever since I got my 4MB Millennium in '96 - surely the greatest graphics card of all time. Parhelia is a cool name, too. If they drop the code name, I just hope they brand it "Millennium".

I'll be keeping an eye on Anand et al (like so many of you) for the latest news; can't wait to find out what this card will really do

BbB Anand is clueless about what the real deal is, I'd suggest you stick around here for the most accurate hints at what is to come... many of us here do know and post up what little we can due to our NDA's atm

I for one am hoping they KEEP the name Parhelia.

It's a very cool name plus a GREAT looking logo for it could be in the works if the right graphic artist got ahold of it.

But then again many of us will probably keep calling it Parhelia regardless of what Matrox calls it

Yes, Parhelia is nice and as said by others has achieved quite a bit of an hype-status, so why not keep it?

But as long as they don't name it the Matrox "Paria", it'll be fine with me

Yeah, I often think code-names are better than the brand-name. I still refer to my Athlon XP 1600 as a 1.4GHz Palomino & distinguish all of the P4s by code-name (Willamete, Northwood, etc) instead of their branding.

I'm quite appalled by some of the suggestions for AMD's forthcoming 'Hammer' series of CPUs, but I'm digressing.

Parhelia is a quality name: it sounds dramatic & drips with expectation...

BB: for the latest and greatest matrox/parhelia news there is no better place then here. even in the rare occasion that someone has fresher/different news it is all gathered here in the end anyway.

hm do you mean that although he has very likely seen the card in action he does still not know what is really going on? or is the real deal sth. else. is the world as we know it going to end soon?

i think i figured out what the real deal is all about. it is not the specs or any features. it is sth. else.
they are giving the card away for free to MURCers! (and miniMURCers also )

I don't think so ....I think H__g pretty much spelled it out, umm I get the impression(wasn't that a card name) that the mags will publish the specs mid to late may/june with the part coming around july or later . Just my guess from what I read , or read into it......

Maybe I'm wrong but I think it means that it will be announced sooner. Why would they tell the press behind closed doors and then sit on it another month or two? Anand said a couple of weeks(read: 3 weeks max). So there it is, my glass is half full cents worth.
