I don't really know if those evolving glasses-free 3d displays (D3D, I think that elsa 3d display was using that Dresden3D tech, or even some of those spinning displays) would need special controller cards or just special drivers or even just only special software, but I think it'd be something to go for for Matrox - but maybe not just yet

if you can generate to displays (one for each eye) then the choice of display technolgy is up to you.

1. LCD shutterglasses are cheap, but need a very good moniter to get with fast phosher and high referesh rates)

2. 3D moniters expensive by cool, don't know how they work exactly but they do (optically splitting or something)

3. headsets are cool (but expensive). a couple of years ago $2k-$3k headst with dual sub VGA res displays for each eye, resoltuion is to low but today they might be better.

4. you high end 3d stuff, direct projection of images into your eye, mostly medical, CAD, and molecular eng systems.

while you can get add on dongle thingies, its a lot more cost effective to have some basic support built into the card..eg dual display(already there) or a frame flipping signal for alternating frames.

I really am hanging out for a good replacement for my asus 3d lcd glasses...

i am still not sure about this panoramic tri monitor thing. personally it sounds a little gimicky to me. however i would like to see dualhead with a seperate s-video port so you can use two monitors, but other people can watch tv somewhere else
