Matrox annouce *full* DX9/PS2.0 compliance to follow on 0.13 in June '04
well, full dx9 compliance won´t be required in a looooong time, the only reason to want dx9 compliance would be because you don´t upgrade often, and want to keep the parhelia for 3 years, and still use it for games at that time.
think about it: geforce3 was the first dx8 card, do you think it will satisfy a hardcore gamer in ut2003? or other future REAL dx8 games?
my guess is that gf3 owners will have to disable most of the dx8 eyecandy anyway.
when dx9 is being pushed to its limits, then even a nv30 or r300 will choke. however i think the parhelia is a third generation dx8 card so it will probably run ALL future dx8 games great, but i don´t think a first generation dx9 card will run more than a few dx9 games great.
my point is: i don´t think dx9 compliance will make this card last any longer.
i myself is upgrading from a dx7 card (kyro2), so i can justify the purchase of a parhelia right now.
This sig is a shameless atempt to make my post look bigger.
And remember Matrox licensed Hardware Displacement Mapping to Microsoft to be used in DX9 but it can be implimented in the software itself. And from what I have heard it is not that hard for a developer to do.

Libertarian is still the way to go if we truly want a real change.

so other cards will get software emulation for Dmaps?
woohoo! that increases the Dmaps popularity among developers, alot.

I think feck is an irish word, it is not considered a swear word, but it used in similar circumstances. I am a bit vague on its meaning but a fecker is something like a thief/arsehole.
If any one has seen "father ted" on TV, which uses feck at every oportuntity, but is not rated for obscene language.
