I have blue eyes. Under natural light (no influence from fluorescent or incandescent lights) I can see visible flickering at 75 Hz. If reduced to 72 Hz or lower, it causes headaches and eye strain.
At 85 Hz, I cannot see flickering. However, if I focus on a fixed point on the monitor and rotate my head, flickering becomes visible. This commonly occurs when looking at a document or book, then focussing on the monitor. At 100 Hz, I cannot see any flickering, and eye strain is minimal.
