Matrox out of gamer's buisness?

Hi,

I will try to get more information about this but according to a source close to Matrox the company will refocus efforts on profeessional buisness.

Job cuts are worst than I first thought and apparently employees know of their job being cut on the web several weeks before their bosses tell them.

As I said I'll try to get more information to validate all that. But you know, it's The Crystal Ball!

I used to work there and if it's true then it's very sad... It was such a great place to work.

I want your feedbacks on that, and if you can prove me wrong I'll be more than happy!

I thought Matrox just got back into gaming....

Phwanky is correct. The amount of contacts I have in their are getting lower and lower and they all tell me that they are out of gaming. Think about it, how can anyone do a 3D chip when most asic boys were laid off? They went from around 180 down to less than 40 and are down to 2 openGL coders.

According to their blank dart board, they are going after the niche market. If they do anything on the 3D side, it will be for cad and 3dsmax like apps.

It's probably their only salvation to move back
towards what they were doing in the past,
Higher quality niche products.. at least it would make
the problems in Graphics more visible to the upper management.

In reality Matrox Graphics was always a cad/niche
product.. it was their ballpark.. just somewhere along
the way they lost focus.. if they were to deisign
something revolutionary like Dynaview did way back
(Drives that allow viewscreen on independant monitors)
and an API to access the special features of the cards
like MSI API did in the way back..
(An API that allows say TRUE 10bit on a custom screen
so people can program specific apps for medical/display
purposes.. not tombraider...)
