Fluff, I guess the cards on this page can be called Parhelia PCI...
or maybe it's about something different?

The new driver is also very nice...the Freelancer problem is solved.

I'm really interested in the production process of the new Parhelia based cards and how big the GPU is (I think still 0.15µm).
Maybe they put the old Parhelia chip on the card, cripple the mem-bandwith by using slower 128Bit memory just to get rid of the old chips.

              Really ?
This is the first time I read the PSU might help solve the problem.

Are they sold as cards ? I figured they were more OEM-type thingies... (I can't imagine a medic having to decide on a videocard ; I'd imagine more he'd choose a device, and if that thing provides good quality, he couldn't care less if it has a Matrox card in it or not)

In Germany, cost has become the no.1 deciding factor when buying new medical equipment - even if something better only costs a little more

BTW, any estimations on how much faster (in 3D) the new cards are gonna be than my Kyro II?

                          I'm thinking about a P650 + m3d combo ...

                            JaG:

sory i did not read your post befor posting my "i have come to a deciton" post.....

i would like to think these new cards are great but as i have been told that using the Pharelia with Discreet Combustion dose not yeald good results... which has propmted my decition to wait it out for a while untill M gets its act together.... i canlive with the slugish OGL performance of my G550 for a while longer.... i love this card and i love Matrox ... i am not about to jumpship even if i was considering it earlier... ....

on a nother note ... people i should warn you NOT to confuse PCI-X with PCI-Express they are two difrent things.... PCI-X has been around for a while IRC

well, then i've got some good news for you. The new drivers work much better with combustion then the previous ones.
I was never able to get the particle systems working. The only thing they added tho the scene was some distorted crap.
with the latest drivers however they do work just fine. I don't know if this was youre only problem, but i just wanted to let you know about it.

i like your sig btw... :d makes lots of sence in a wierd way
