More stupid questions from the press

It’s become almost routine for members of the American press to throw dumb or leading questions at members of the Bush administration.

Maybe that’s one of the reasons why Secretary of State Colin Powell seemed so well prepared for the shifty question recently hurled at him by an Iraqi reporter.

According to the New York Post, one of Saddam’s newshounds asked Powell, “Isn't it true that only 13% of young Americans can locate Iraq on a map?”

“That may be true,” Powell countered. “You're probably right. But unfortunately for you, all 13% are Marines.”
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

Haha, that was beautiful! Was it a real reply or just a Post joke?

I read that article that the Iraqi was talking about. To say that it was grossly set made to look bad is beside the point I guess. They went to all inner city, poorly educated children and asked them these questions. gee, ya think they might have been a little bit skewed?

I'm not saying that they're much better than that, but at least take a fair statistical sampling...

Love it when Powell ripped that reporter a new one, but Don Rumsfield does it about every other day in his DoD press briefings

Well, c'mon. It's like when Jay Leno went to Vegas and asked people at "The Sands" if they knew where the Pyramids were located...

The two that knew they were in Egypt were asked where Egypt was.

The one that knew that... thought it was in southeast Asia.

The "educators" of today would rather teach irrelevant BS than real world knowledge.

Thank the NEA (Natl. Education Assn.) for that since this union is what is really in control of the curriculum decisions. Their people end up running the state school boards, the state Education Department administrations and are, for the most part, running the teachers colleges.

I know. My wife's a very frustrated teacher.

The teachers are generally OK....it's the NEA and its state branches that IMO were founding members of the Axis of Evil
