I do hope that you will never eat crap

Carp is pretty good if you know how to cook it, and is especially good smoked which we do a lot in Michigan. Properly done it has a mild flavor and soft texture, but they do have small bones, which is why smoking is popular as it softens these to edibility. They typically run from 10 to 50 pounds, but can run almost 100 lbs for old timers in good locales.

Bait: I use stiffly cooked corn meal with cotton balls thoroughly kneaded in and a touch of molasses. Put this on a treble hook equipped with a wire spiral to hold the bait. Some use a piece of nylon stocking to make a bait bag and attach that to one of the hooks.

Now put 'er on the bottom and hold on with both hands as they can really fight, especially on the first run. Lost a lot of tackle when I was a kid by not being ready for that

Similar techiques are used for catfish, a great eating fish that can run upwards of 50 lbs (channel cats) but more typically run about 10 lbs. Yummy in the tummy

Bowfishing for carp and gar has been one of my favorite activities and has been since I was a kid. You attach a large spool of line to the lower limb connector of the bow and attach the line to the back end of the harpoon, which in reality is a solid fiberglass arrow with a barbed steel head and rubber vanes.
