I posted my post with the image attached, and then used the above html to display it - vBB code seems to prevent this from happening.

Interesting. I know another board software actually displays attached images, though this method might make it easier on thread viewers when attaching large (dimension wise) images that you would still like displayed (while being attached). Just set the image dimension inside the tag and "instant thumbnail".
