Well, for me it's not so much the distance as it is the amount of retries I use. There's only so many times you can re-start it until your score starts sucking bad.

Bwahahahaha! Beat my score!!! On level 15 I shot the ball between the 4 planets just right and it orbited the system for about 15 minutes in a big figure 8, finally landing in the black hole! Score for level 15: 347,050 x 15/1 = 5,205,750!
