Dumb user of the week

Another day yet another virus.

W32/sobig.f which then emails everyone out of an address book.

User rings up.

Dumb user: I've think I've got a virus.

Me: Okay what makes you think you've got one.

Dumb user: The email says I've got sobig.f virus.

Me: What operating system are you using.

Dumb user: It's a Mac.

Me: You can't have it since you're using a mac.

Dumb user: I MUST HAVE THE EMAIL SAYS SO.

Me: It's windows only virus.

Dumb user: I tell you I have it.

Me: Sorry you can't have as it doesn't run on your system.

And so on before the user got resigned to the fact that she had a Macintosh and sadly the virus didn't run on it.

you should have told her to reformat the mac, just to be safe
then keep it disconnected from the internet for a month in

It sounds like all our Mac users are panicing over the sobig virus. What a bunch of plonkers. At least they are updating there virus checkers which is a good idea.

Ok, so unknown to me my mom had the blaster virus. She called microsoft before calling me, and found out that in order to fix it microsoft was going to charge her $250 USD. She hung up called me and I sent her the file to patch it, and the file to fix it, for free. I'm mad at Micro$oft
