I had the damnest experience with my machine. Tt had all sorts of errors crooping up. Eventually i ran memtest, and guess what? The one 512mb ram stick had an entire cluster of ram gone bad. it was only 4 months old, so no prop getting a refound.
No reimbursement for my stupidity, tho'. Reformated and reinstalled twice over, before i figured out to try the memory..

Yeh does sound like double trouble and it just hit at the same time as the virus. Unless of course you've got more than one virus lurking on the machine.
For future referance the best thing you can do is get another hard drive put it in a caddy and get a copy of norton ghost. I normally keep around six backups of my hard drive so I can roll back quite a way if need be.
Since you've got the backup drive in a caddy you can switch it off so theres no chance of virus jumping across to it.
As others have said also install an Antivirus programme and keep everything up todate.

Lovesan mostly just makes your machine reboot a lot and ties up your network with packets bombing the Windows Update site. It does NOT:

1. Erase your hard disk.
2. Keep other programs from running (except Windows Update and regedit).
3. Molest your collie or other small animals.

i took advantage of the sunday paper when i was going through the compusa ad.

scanned over the sell going on this week of the maxtor 120 gig 7200 8mb cache hard drive for $60

im going to install it then format my 40 gig then make my 40 gig my master and the 120 my slave drive.

just have to buy a new cdrom now since mine decided not to work again after i got the last bit of broken cd out of it
