The correct locution is "In the thus defined structure.", which is both correct and explicit. I agree that 'previously' may be ambiguous in the context you mention but you may use "In the last-named (or even last-defined) structure." for the greatest precision.

Alright, I received my Second Edition Webster's New International Dictionary. It's in really excellent condition, by the way.. practically unused.
Both the second and third editons define "thusly" thusly:
In this manner; to this degree; thus
the second edition appends the term colloq.Comment

Well here is my 2 cents, "thus" is the proper form "thusly" is only used when you taking the piss out of some pedantic twat...
Every seen the scifi comedy "Red dwarf" , and Rimmer BS'ing about his studies....that is the only time I have heard "thusly" used, and it seemed to hit the spot thenComment
