I can understand why they wouldn't include the Scouring of the Shire, the movie is going to be packed enough with everything leading up to the destruction of the ring (Oh no, I spoiled it for everyone!
) It is kinda annoying that they cut the encounter with Saruman when Gandolf and everyone else goes to Isengard, but at least that'll be on the extended edition DVD release.

We knew the scouring was pretty much out.
The Isengard scene is important, though. It'll have to make it into the extended cut.

In a Swedish national test they have included one of the page from the ROTK and school kids are so sad that "it spoiled the whole movie for me"
Oh yeah, for a book that has been out in sweden for nearly 50 year
Some stupid kids almost seems to regard the original books as some kind of gigantic spoiler for the "grovvy" movies
If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

I read that the Sarumon scene was cut because it didn't flow with the rest of the movie, since the Scouring of the Shire could not be put into the movie (time restrictions).
Of course, since the scourinjg of the shire was left out, Saruman died at Isengard by impalement. So maybe it's not so bad they left it out... for now.
