Which 5th move? 5. Nc3 or 5. ..., d4? They can't continue 6. d3 after 5. ..., d4. So I don't get it. Guess it's time for me to get a chess program as well, though I despise them.

OK, so tell me what do you think about this:

You're playing one opening and guy is playing another.

For instance: e4, to which you reply with c5.

Now white still thinks he's playing giuco piano or that he's going to foolsmate you and plays Bf1-c4

Now that chess set would be a distraction. Do they strip when they checkmated.

Distraction indeed. Do you think someone has come up with strip chess by now (like strip poker?)

I've heard of drinking chess though (haven't tried it for obvious reasons).

I noticed that particulary at Yahoo people tend to play violently:

After 1 or two pawns and perhaps knight, queen or bishop comes out.

You always get checked with bishop if you play c5 and latter d5, or if guy plays Queens gambit, it's always white d5 and Queen on a4.

After the attack wears off and a blunder or two they get smacked down, the sad part is you have to mate them.

Even people on advanced with high ratings do this, the good part is you learn how to deal with such openings though.

Another extreme is people who open Reti (g3, fianchetto), KID or even double fianchetto and minimal central expansion. I've read that some Italian developed this "revolutionary opening" (double fianchetto, nights d2 and e3) and I've seen such cases.

However after this such people tend to be sitting ducks and just wait to be slaughtered.

0-0-0 and h5 h6.. pawn storm generally finishes them off.


I've especially come to like queenside castling: If you maintain strong pawn centre, keep one or two bishops for diagonal attack and open g file or counter their attack with kingside pawnstorm, it's very effective. Furthermore people expect you to castle on the king side and amass their forces there, when you turn their plan upside down. Of course one needs tactical advantage and proper opening for this.
