Stretch a cable across the thing and start pulling it back and forth.
That's how they did the Russian submarine Kursk.

Indeed, they used a cable saw. They cut the boat while it was at the bottom of the sea. The cable was between two other boats.
That way they were able to lift the parts. It was an impressive operation !System : ASUS A8N SLI premium, Athlon 64X2 3800+, 2Gb, T7K500 320Gb SATAII, T7K250 250Gb SATAII, T7K250 250Gb ATA133, Nec ND-3520, Plextor PX130A, SB Audigy 2, Sapphire Radeon X800 GTO, 24" Dell 2407WFP.

Actually when I was little, my parents lost a rather large fleet of fresh Mercs that were destined for Taiwan. The ship hit rocks and some containers managed to slip into the see....which happended to be my parents and uncles containers full of fully optioned Mercedes... Yang Ming Line it was (the ship), if I remember correctly. Cost a stack of money for my Parents and uncle...Originally posted by Brian R.
I wish I had a picture of that freighter that went down with all those Beemers and MBs on it...
