    Recent readings...

    I'm a longtime fan of Stephen King...I'm halfway through "The Stand" at the moment and it is simply amazing. Has anyone seen the miniseries? IMDB comments & ratings would indicate it as pretty good. What do you think his best work is? In terms of pure atmosphere The Shining and The Stand take the cake for me...can't wait to finish it

    On a different note, I'm plowing through some of the Marquis de Sade's work at the moment and it's pretty damn good, though u have to have a certain mindset for it. Has anyone seen "Salo"? De Sade's "The 120 Days of Sodoma" which inspired it is some pretty hair-raising reading...the movie can't even begin to touch some of the perversities described in the book. Also, "Philosophy in the bedroom" is one of the funnest things I've read in a long time...I like an author that can follow 10 pages of hardcore sex with 20 pages of hardcore philosophy.

      I've seen parts of Salo.... I was dissapointed by the acting, the script did not appear "flow" very well overall it was just lousy.

          I have seen the mini series. It is quite good ( I picked up the DVD used for $5.99CDN ). There are parts I was not too happy about( the ending), but then again, I never read the book, so I cannot say if it is done better there

              The Stand, The Shining, Needful Things, The Long Walk and The Sun Dog are some that come to mind. The Stand has got to be my favorite though.

                  Needful Things was indeed great and amazingly the movie wasn't bad either. The Sun Dog was the short story about the dog in the Polaroid picture?

                  Oh, and even though I don't really like fantasy, the way King does it, it's damn nice-The Talisman, Black House and especially Eyes of the Dragon.
