...on a house. Or well, I have just had an offer accepted by the vendor (for £10k less than the asking price, which is nice...) so now have a few months of fun and games with solicitors, surveys, and mortgage people to look forward to...

I do have a mortgage agreed in principal and deposit money ready though, so that is good.

Finally George makes it onto the property ladder if all goes to plan....

PS Always get a prospective house inspected by a qualified home inspector.
(what ever that would be in England, engineer, etc)
You don't want to find out after you move in it that sewage has been leaking and softening the foundation for the last 30 years.

Yup it's a leasehold property. But there are rights around buying a share of the freehold (for a flat like this) these days which I could consider in a few years. Really it's just a method of looking after the communal areas and structure in a place.
