I have given a few away and am back to 6 invites as well...if anyone needs a gmail.

I think this may have been A nice "viral" marketing program by google. Looks like every man and his dog has gmail now

If I had to guess I'd say it's controlled scaling. They have a say on how fast they add people to the system and can watch it better. Not to mention the fact that they can be selective on the type of user they add to the system. YOu know, geeky guy that uses a lot of attachments invites mostly geeky friends. Teenage girl invites her friends. They get to test more specifically on how the system will be used.

I used up my initial 6, then 4 more on Saturday and today I am back to 6 available.

i am having problems loging in to gmail.. from work... what can i say win 95osr2 P166 (no mmx) 32mb RAM (remeber the SIMMs?) all i get is a severly destorted page... as my internet at home is down atm i have no idea whats going on in that box... how come some of you got invites upon signing on... i didnt get any..

I don't know, I guess, it depends upon usage.

We should probably have invited Zokes first, that would certainly generate more initial invites .

Definately doesn't depend on usage...

@Spiral, AFAIK some older browsers have problems with gmail (it heavily uses javascript or smth )...maybe that's it?

Try reseting your IE options back to defaults on Tools, Internet Options, Advanced...that solved some problems I had at work.
