When I was in grade 4 we went on a field trip to downtown Toronto. We took the subway each way. On the way home a drunk guy got on the train. He was really jovial. He made lots of jokes for the kids and whenever the train would come to a stop at a station, he'd lose his balance and fall into a hand stand.Originally posted by GuchiGuh

That was my first experience with drunkenness.
I asked our teacher why they'd let a guy that drunk onto the subway. She told me it was better than letting him drive home.
Generally, alcohol affects different people in different ways. Some become a$$holes, some become quiet, some become funny, some lose motor control, and with some, it's almost impossible to know that they are inebriated.
Whenever I’d go out drinking, whoever was the designated driver would always end up drinking. I hated that. I quickly became the semi official designated driver for my friends. After a while, I got tired of helping to carry drunk people home. The thought of being so helpless in a public place was really off-putting. So for that and many other reasons, I stopped drinking altogether.
I don’t miss it… much.
