    MURC Fund

What would you say about starting an emergency murc fund ?
Each and every one of us will donate as much as he/she can so that if any of us has an emergency, the murc could loan him/her the money ASAP.
Emergency could be anything from a life saving operation a murc member or his significant other / kid needs, travelling to meet a dieing family member / friend, escaping from a 3rd world country because of an uprise or anything urgent.
I believe this will help us as a community in many different levels*.

    * No, It won't in any way affect the amount of slack you receive in the Temp forum.

Yes. I very much like the idea of this community becoming a little more like a "real" community; I'm all for it!

      3. dont have a CC (well i can always buy aprepaid one for net use)
      4. curently have no money... banking all hopes on a fun that i might never get

but i feel ashamed that i have never contributed... and that i cant do it now.

While murc is a fun online community to participate in, I don't think one should see it as a replacement to reallife social interaction. Hence my 'no'

I'd do it as a social experiment.

                Am in.

However I do raise a point: Trust.

                eg:
Guchiguh: "Help, I need $$ to get a new heart."
                MURC Community: "Ok Guchi.."
                *Guchi Receives stacks of money*
*GuchiGuh goes to buy new BMW....*
GuchiGuh: "Thanks guys, the heart transplant went well..."
MURC Community: "Cool! When do you think you can pay us back?"
*They never hear of Guchi again*

                  OK. No money for GuchiGuh

But you're right, trust is a point. Though I'd trust all senior MURCers. Not with all my money, but if each of us contributes a little, the risk will be spread. For larger sums we could surely find some way to make this safer (and more bureaucratic).

This is the experiment to which I was referring.

Nope not me. I like to know where my money is going even if it ends up as pizza or beer at a MURC party.

Whereas I may offer a little something for a specific person's special need on a person to person basis, I don't think a general fund is a good idea. I echo SD's point about PayPal: it doesn't work here, either.

We also could decide to only release the funds after a vote, so no onoe person would have control over it (well,, technically, whoever manages the fund would, but we already trust our money to whoever manages the server fund (Sasq or Ant I guess)).
