Prisoners *could* have escaped Alcatraz!

I saw an episode of Mythbusters on Discovery last night. Apart from proving that a duck's quack *does* have an echo , they showed that the 3 prisoners who attempted to escape the island on a dingy may well have managed it. Of course, the fact that they have never officially been seen or heard of seen means they probably didn't.

The guys in the show made a replica of the dingy and paddles, waited for the same tidal and weather conditions and just paddled their way across, landing just north of the bridge after a few hours - long before they would have been missed!
