The material I basically had lying around - 10cm x 4 cm x 2.5 cm (2.5 x 4 x 1 inches)weighs about 1.5 kg(3 lbs). It's a high carbon tool steel that would normally be used for making a tool or die.
If I were to make something like this affordable I would use aluminum instead and simplify the design - take the wave out and just recess the letters onto a flat face.
This particular piece from design to finished part took about 1 1/2 hrs, but once all the CAD work and programming was done the machining took about 1/2 hr.
If I had to put a price on it it would be like this:
Design/programming -$80
Material -$15
Material preperation (milling square and grinding) -$50
CNC milling -$50.
I'll look into what it would cost for something simpler out of aluminum.
This one is off to Japan for Sasq.

-hmm, I could make others in various sizes/styles and just auction them off to members, with the proceeds going to the Murc server Campaign.
