HELP ME recall the movie name.

This has driven me crazy lately. (It wasn't a great movie, maybe 'C' graded, but for me it was memorable.)
It was in black & white, so the under 30 crowd won't have seen it, probably.
My best description:
Post armegeddon, ulgy monster (probably something severely deformed. Like a gorilla with a horn????(it's been at least a decade since I seen it)), hillside home, refugees go there.........Monster dies when it rains at the end of the movie.

Not quite into my thirties yet, but by the description, it sounds like a movie I saw a few years back on AMC or another classic movie television station.

Then again, it could be that I've seen so many older movies that they've started blending into each other...

I know the movie you're talking about, but I was so young when I saw it I'd never know. It scared the shit out of me though.
