If you can swing it, book a trip to the Monteverde cloud forest or other national parks. Otherwise enjoy the coffee , watch out for petty theft in the city, and travel with a group in the countryside. There is a large retired American community there. If you are into fishing or scuba, there are numerous opportunities on the Pacific coast for day charters. Here is some general information:
