Here's what you need to do with the first one.
You know:
1) y = x + 2
2) x * y = 10
Substitute:
x(x+2) = 10
Solve the polynomial x^2 + 2x -10 = 0Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP. -
Second one:
Square both sides. Get rid of the fraction by multiplying both sides by 4. Move crap around until you get it into polynomial form.
