    Just brainstorming...

I think the beginning is the key to the rest - it's some sort of encoding. KZY is an end-of-line or end-of-segment marker. T is a counter/tic mark. It starts out with 16 incrementing segments, so we could assign values to each - g=0, a=1, d=2...r=14/E, b=15/F. 16 is an interesting number. Maybe it's musical - notes covering two octaves? Or 16 colors? If I knew how to translate the characters to colors...

r/14/E seems to enclose the entire puzzle - most of the first line (once you remove the leading key), the beginning and end of each line (ignoring the end-of-segment kzy), the last line...

If you convert the given letters into their hex equivalents, you can see that each line *tends* to go up and down fairly smoothly - EED86887444420011223322333334455556655544433111222 223344555678888888889A99AFCCCF9ACCCCDEEE
with some overhead at the beginning. Each line is similar to the preceding line, with a few changes, which is why it looks like a picture. So it seems that each line has progression from left to right (or right to left!), and there is also progression from line to line.

The reference to the spacecraft plaques makes me think there is some fundamental/elemental data encoded here, but I don't know what category. I don't think it's DNA, as that's only 4 characters - AGCT.

I haven't done a character frequency analysis of the 16 values yet to see if anything jumps out.

Oops, I see Duty had the same thought...

      Colors? I'll look into that....

        FWIW, the occurrence frequency:

        g/0= 165
        a/1= 654
        d/2= 979
        c/3=1032
        i/4= 806
        s/5= 692
        n/6= 587
        u/7= 571
        e/8= 556
        m/9= 480
        q/A= 527
        p/B= 487
        v/C= 575
        x/D= 734
        r/E=1055
        b/F= 0 hmmmm...

So g/0 is light at 165, c/3 and r/E are heavy at 1032 and 1055, and b/F is nonexistent. I have no idea...

If it hadn't already been rejected, I'd say it was a 90x110 topographical map, where the value represents the heighth/depth. The border is the most "dense", with the interior shading up and down in peaks and valleys. But the OP says it can be interpreted a "werse" (verse?) at a time.

Well, I don't think it's music, at least nothing I'm familiar with. Of course, I made a series of assumptions, any/all of which could be faulty.

I converted my alleged 16 values to notes, starting at middle C and going up two octaves, ignoring flats and sharps. Not having any useful tools (or knowledge), I just used the msdos beep command and gave each note an arbitrary length of 4. If you want to hear the resulting masterpiece, I'll see if I can attach it.

I think it's time Nowhere popped in and told me I'm barking up a wild herring, so I can get back to what I'm supposed to be doing (looking for a job).

I don't think it can be colours, because surely we'd already be able to see the pattern?

                  Instead of 0 - f, try 0000 - 1111

                  Might even be a stereogram?????

                      Try Courier New - size = 3 - Bold

Here's the resultant text file. I've been looking at it in different fonts.

Another possible tact is to further convert the puzz.txt file I attached above and separate it into 111 lines each, of 45 - 8 bit binary numbers and do something ......
