    1918 "Spanish Flu" resurrected

So they can try to figure out why it was so deadly and maybe help prevent a pandemic from teh current bird flu

Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice, pull down your pants and slide on the ice.

So they didn't even recreate the virus, they combined what they could get with parts of the flu virus? WTF? They made a new one that who knows what it is capable of. Better not get out.

This is sometimes done in level 4 labs so they can anticipate the worst and get a head start oin producing a vaccine.

I hated to work in the class 3 lab at our university.

Those encounter suits are just SOO much out.

I wonder what is required of the class 4?? Our lab was nuclear strike persistent...

Maybe it's just one of those US/EU terminology differences - like the first floor being on the ground in the US and one flight up in EU

A BSL Level 4 lab would work on class 4 diseases such as Ebola, Marburg, Lassa Fever and biowarfare agents.

Think in terms of the lab in the old movie "Outbreak" (Dustin Hoffman), but with better procedures

While much of the infectious diseases research is done in Laboratories with BSL1, 2 and 3 capabilities, a BSL-4 laboratory is required for work with dangerous agents that pose a high individual risk of aerosol-transmitted laboratory infections and life-threatening disease. A BSL-4 laboratory is designed to protect researchers and has special engineering and design features to prevent microorganisms from being disseminated into the environment. Researchers who use the BSL-4 Laboratories have thorough training in handling hazardous infectious agents. Access to the laboratory is strictly controlled.

What level would the lab in The Andromeda Strain be? Underground in the middle of the desert with a nuclear self-destruct..

AFAIK no such thing, but then I doubt they'd advertise such things.

Whatever happened to the remake of this movie? The original is great
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?
