Has anyone watched this, on HBO or otherwise? I really like it, just saw last night's episode and was thoroughly impressed with their presentation of Cleopatra...Liz Taylor must have had fun seeing that

No HBO, and HBO has been doing a guerilla warefare campaign on P2P networks that are sharing it.

Well, da guerilla warfare don't seem to be working too well...HDTV rips are great for us foreigners without the benefit of new-fangled US TV

I've been watching Rome & recording it on DVD since episode #1 and just LOVE it.

Best program on the subject I've seen since "I, Claudius".

i watched a couple of episodes and to me it seemed like just another soap opera.

i don't watch it any more.

You have to do more than 2 episodes to get through the "set ups" necessary to evolve the storyline.

Yeah, come on. I've watched TV before. I know how this works.

It just didn't suit me.

I'm trying to wean myself off TV these days and have become hyper critical of new shows because I don't want to discover more "must see TV".

I'm not saying that it's a bad show necessarily. It just didn't do "it" for me and I'd rather wait to see if others say the season was really good before I spend any more time on it.
