from that time, more than enough to play quake3 and make it look awesome.
At the same time the PS2 was released, AMD put out the first 1Ghz cpu
This was also around the time around Voodoo5, Geforce2, and the first Radeon's came out - also nearly a year after the G400MAX.
Most new systems came with minimum 128mb of ram.
Still makes for a plently functional computer. I played warcraft III on less.Q9450 + TRUE, G.Skill 2x2GB DDR2, GTX 560, ASUS X48, 1TB WD Black, Windows 7 64-bit, LG M2762D-PM 27" + 17" LG 1752TX, Corsair HX620, Antec P182, Logitech G5 (Blue)

Uhmm...OK, this was rather time when 1GHz CPU's were coming out, but hardly available, and similar thing was with T&L gfx cards. And due to very high RAM prices at the time (it was over 2x more costly than year erlier), the minimum ws 64MB, and 128MB was everything you could dream about...
Anyway, tha's just takin discussion in the direction in which you would want to, and it's really irrelevant. Just look at the games. Recent ones. Can you really play on your "2000 computer" games that look like RE on PS2, or newest Gran Turismo, or MGS, or Silent Hill 3/4?

I don't even know what you guys are debating.
I started this thread to see who'd be getting a 360 so we could vent about the backorders and maybe setup some Live play.
The rest of this is just noise.
It's a game system. Get over it.
If you can't afford it/it doen't appeal to you, that's fine.
If the Revolution has enough good content I'll get one of those too. And a PS3.P.S. You've been Spanked!

You want to know? I suppose somebody wants to reassure himself that he's doing/buying/playing the best thing, always. (in case anyone wonders, I have only broken PS1 and computer in many ways from the "2000 era", which will be upgraded in some time to more current standards, much, much sooner than getting any working console)

But then, some people just have to be anal about everything and promote their opinion as the be all, end all.

You want to know what I've been playing the last week? Goldeneye for N64.
Don't get me wrong, I love debates, usually both sides end up learning something new and walk away with better understanding than before, and they are very constructive, but I hate debates about debating and find them in absolutely no way constructive. This IS a forum.
Anyways, to answer the topic question - I would definitely get a 360 if I had a HDTV and enough money for it. Consoles are always great fun.Q9450 + TRUE, G.Skill 2x2GB DDR2, GTX 560, ASUS X48, 1TB WD Black, Windows 7 64-bit, LG M2762D-PM 27" + 17" LG 1752TX, Corsair HX620, Antec P182, Logitech G5 (Blue)

@Nowhere, what's up with you lately. You seem very argumentative. You also seem very quick with the rolleyes.
Why are you even posting in this thread? If you're never going to get a 360 and wouldn't ever consider it then this thread isn't for you.P.S. You've been Spanked!

Well, DOA4 available on 29th Dec 2005. Should be around 20th Jan 2006 for us UK'ers. Which means I'll need an XBox360 now. What's up with the stock levels? Anyone know the next batch dates? (So, yeah, essentially, getting one here. Incidently, anyone watched the intro vid for DOA4 yet? *drools*)

I'm not following it too closely but many people are complaining about glitches in the DOA4. Also, a lot of people are complaining that the graphics aren't truly next gen; that they could have been a lot better. There's a demo for EA's new boxing game available for free download from the Live Marketplace and the graphics are truly amazing.
IIRC, there are occasional problems with losing your progress/unlocked content in DOA4.
Also, there seems to be a problem with lag times on Live with 360 that wasn't nearly as bad with Live on Xbox.
Lastly, there's a known bug where if you have two gamertags on one 360 and one of them downgrades to Silver level (because it was a trial that expired or the subscription ran out) it will cause the other profile to downgrade as well. And it will do something funky to the database that prevents tech support from fixing it. Basically, the gaming server thinks that you're Silver and the billing server thinks that you're still Gold. M$ is working on a fix that will refresh everyone's profiles based on what the billing server says they should be. I'm in that situation now because my 12 month subscription ran out and it couldn't auto renew because the card I'd originally used to subscribe doesn't exist anymore. When I tried to put in a new card it gave me these weird error messages that basically told me it didn't know how to handle the situation. I went to billing.microsoft.com to update my credit card so now the billing server thinks I'm Gold again but the gaming server thinks I'm Silver so I'm stuck.
Just thought you should know about some of the problem before you run out to buy the 360 for that game.P.S. You've been Spanked!
