Didn't finish watching it... but I have a big question: how do we know the manager was talking to anyone on the phone at all, or perhaps someone she knew and was in on the act? That seems far more likely than her simply being so abysmally stupid that she would do whatever an anonymous caller says.

As far as the guy that got an oral favour out of the deal, well, what he did can't be blamed on anything but lack of any sort of moral character. He saw an opportunity and took advantage. The only person there with a lick of common sense was the man that refused to comply with anything the caller was requesting.
