      Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow MURC'ers

      Todays menu @ our house;

      27 lb free-range turkey injected w/sherry basting sauce
      14 lb honey basted ham
      Home made herb stuffing
      Home made turkey gravey
      Farm style mashed potatos (skins on, buttermilk & not creamed)
      Yams w/maple-cinnamon sauce
      Green bean & bacon casserole
      Corn on the cob
      Whole craberry sauce (made from scratch)

      And from the oven;

      Home baked rye and white bread
      Home baked rolls
      Home baked sweet potato pie
      Home baked Dutch apple pie
      Home baked pumpkin pie

      And from the freezer;

      Home made vanilla ice cream
      Home made chocolate ice cream

      I was up late last night

      Yes, we are the family Thanksgiving Central this year.

      Glad we have a big dining room (240 sq/ft)

          Looks a lot like our menu, save for the few questionable Polish additions the wife's family likes to make. And oh yes, we are the lucky volunteers for "Thanksgiving Central" as well, too bad we don't have a big dining room... heck, we don't even have one per se, just a breakfast nook area. So we are rearranging furniture to get a long table in.

          13 adults and eight kids shall make our decently sized home a small, confined madhouse

          Happy Thanksgiving!

              Happy Thanksgiving Day!!!
              Okay Doc, how large of a crowd? Remember it's not the size of the dining room that counts but the the food to person ratio!!!!!

                We entertained 28 people this year; kids, grandkids, aunts & uncles, grandma etc. etc. We had to rent two dining tables + chairs in addition to our formal table which can seat 12 with all 3 inserts mounted. That dining room paid for itself bigtime

                Remember that 27 pound turkey? It barely fit into the oven and took almost 6.5 hours to cook. Damned thing was the Arnold Schwarzenegger of turkeys in that it appeared to have the meat of a 32+ pounder

                When I made up the stuffing it became obvious that the rule book was going out the window, so I made the equivalent of 6-7 boxes of instant stuffing. We had 2 cups of leftovers.

                We also made up ~2 gallons of craberry sauce, of which we now have none left over.
