Here is the rough translation. If I messed up somewhere I'm sure someone will chime in:

Honorable citizens of the Saudi Arabia,

Allow me this opportunity to correct a few misunderstandings surrounding the comic (direct = drawing, but along the lines of a comic) about the prophet Muhammed, which has now caused a boycott of Danish products in your land [Saudi Arabia]. This comic has caused, for the past four months, a great deal of debate among the Danes regarding freedom of expression - a privilege that we extol (literal = set high, praise, etc.) in Denmark.

This has caused a crusade-like initiative among Muslims in Denmark, and the world over. This I must categorically refute (basically saying the Muslims are highly overacting to the comic and he’s refuting this senseless crusade against Denmark). It was not our intention to offend anyone’s beliefs. Although the sketch may have been wrong/offensive, it was unintentional (tough to translate…basically saying, “hey, it was just a !@$*ing sketch, wrong as it may have been.”). This we have regretted (along the lines of feeling sorry for, maybe apologized, but not really) many times in the past months. Both in our newspaper, and in other newspapers, on TV, on the radio, and in the international media. At the same time we have begun a dialog (started meetings with) representatives within the Muslim community in Denmark. We has been received in a positive and constructive spirit, like we also in other ways seek to establish a rewarding dialogue with the Danish muslims.

We are sad that this unprovoked violence has reached the present circumstances and shall therefore repeat, that we did not intend to offending anyone, and that we, like the Danish society/people, have complete respect of religious freedom.

Chokolade trekanter are pretty universal in Denmark. Saw them in just about every bakery ... and god knows I was in a lot of them. They are large triangles, about 25cm x 25cm x 30cm big, made with a filo style pastry dough, filled with a creamy sugary filling (along the lines of a bavarian cream, but not really that creamy, and more sugary) and covered in a thick chocolate icing/frosting. Mmmmm... I'm drooling now.

As for the Norwegian flag burning. I doubt there's a single person in Scandinavia, let alone Norway, that cares whether Muslims in Gaza burned a Norwegian flag with a footprint on it. Fake or real. Please. How silly.
