Seems strange! My suspicious mind suggests that the previous case may have inspired someone to decide how to bump off (or KO) some embarrassing wife or GF and then feed them to the beasts as a good way of disposing of the cadavers.

When I was driving a truck I remember the advice about different animals on the highway: Don't try to evade deer as they aren't likely to cause any real damage compared to the hazards of rapidly swerving a semi. However, Elk (and Moose obviously) were to be avoided at all costs because they were tall and heavy enough to be a serious threat and could easily be rammed up the hood into the cab of the truck. Alligators were also on the "avoid if at all possible" category because they make effective speed bumps (which isn't a good thing at highway speeds) and because their bodies will whip around under the trailer and tear air-lines apart.

The population of Crocs in Australia is more then healthy, I think a bit of careful commerical harvesting is defintley in order. They are resilent and if its done in moderation should help keep the population healthy. I am definitely for the harvesting of renuable resources.

I guess the same would probably true in Florida.

Now cane toads on the other hand, they are are vermin we can't get rid of even though we have tried, they killing/displacing huge numbers of native frogs and small animals.
They have made it Darwin and will(maybe already here) be in Western australia soon.
No native animal can deal with them and they even have mutated to become a lot more mobile...
I would rather have the crocs than the toads.
