ah...I have succesfully managed to ignore the Eurovision song contest yet again
If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

      No biggie

Edit: For those who don't know (or care), Finland actually won. Apparently, the key to victory is to stop trying... Or at least stop trying to be like everyone else. Well, either that, or it's not much of a "song contest" anymore - the phone voting system means that the acts are more judged by their value as ENTERTAINMENT. As evidenced by Lordi. Hmm, can't wait what kind of massive pyrotechnics they will all use next year. Can't wait to see Carola in a goat mask either...

Anyway, Lordi himself is a 30ish guy who's been fascinated by monsters since he was small. The impressive part of it all is that the band is pretty much a one person project. The songs are written by Tomi (Mr. Lordi), as are their lyrics. The costumes are designed - and mostly also MADE - by him. So are, I believe, also their shows and the graphics associated with the band. Shows what you can achieve by believing in what you do, even if the whole "dressing up for fun" spirit might be a little loathed by the more "serious" hard rock and metal bands, which Finland also has plenty of....

Damn, the victory means that we'll have to organize that MASSIVELY expensive contest next year, right? I bet the guys & girls at Finnish national television are consuming their fingernails right now...

Watched a good French film from 2150 to 0120, about Jean Moulin, the Résistance leader against the German occupation and the Vichy régime, who is all but worshipped as a saint in France but was a victim of Klaus Barbie's brutality. On the whole, it was a fairly accurate portrayal, although there may have been some cinematographic licence, especially about his supposed betrayal, which is historically unclear. As the contest was from 2200 to 0100, this let me out of the pain of watching it!

I thought Germany would have done better. Supprised that finland won though
The Welsh support two teams when it comes to rugby. Wales of course, and anyone else playing England

I watched it, first time ever, glad Finland won as I thought they were the best.

I had to switch off during the british entry...

I watched The Island (Ewan McGregor, Kirsten Johanssen). Quite entertaining, but could have been a lot more so.
Some pillock of a scheduler timed a televised Princes Trust fund raiser to clash with it. That wouldn't have done either side any favours
