English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

They look like slobs, but I'll bet any of them could break most men in half....with one arm. Sumo's are strong SOB's

yeah I can just imagine the caloric intake it takes to keep you un-svelt when you practice and exercise as much as they must.

In high school our (American) football center weighed 400+ lbs., stood at least 6' 6" and looked much like a Sumo. He was fast, strong & big enough to take on three 250 lb. defenders rushing and could bench press his weight.

IIRC during football season he'd put down ~8,000+ cal. a day and still just maintain his weight.

              I was 6' 1.5" 245 lbs. (defensive tackle) and required ~6000 cal. a day.

Our diet was ~60% carbs, 15% protein and the rest fats etc. Eggs by the dozen.

they basically eat a high caloretic gruel 5 times a day, and all suffer type 2 diabeties later in life.

They need to see a sports dietician. They could still be big, but a lot healthier.

I was going to say something about it probably being a tradition thing but was beat to the punch.

Just like it is tradition for baseball players to use steroids - taking it out would ruin the game. *cough
