No Skinny Models Wanted in Spain

Spain's top fashion show has turned away a slew of models on grounds they are too skinny — an unprecedented swipe at body images blamed for encouraging eating disorders among young people.

Organizers of the pageant, known as the Pasarela Cibeles, used a mathematical formula to calculate the models' body mass index — a measure of their weight in relation to their height — and 30% of the women flunked, said the Assn. of Fashion Designers of Spain.

The association said Friday it wanted models at the Sept. 18-22 show to project "an image of beauty and health" and shun a gaunt, emaciated look.

Seriously, I know VERY few guys that like the skinny boy look. It's always the curvy look. Some of us more than others. Women don't tend to believe that though.

All these years together and 4 kids later my wife still thinks I drool over her in spite of her curves and not because of them

The BMI index is too rigid to be of any use to small- or large- boned people. Someone like Kate Moss or Keira Knightly is built in such a way as to be quite normal at a very low BMI, while people like, say, Doc or myself would look emaciated at the weight BMI dictates as being "normal." BMI needs to be revised to cope with this natural range in body types.

Personally, I can be physically attracted to a petite Kate Moss type or a woman taller than myself with "breeder" hips.. it's all a matter of proportion. It is nice to be able to pick up the woman you love, though.
