Reminds me of a similar incident that happened to one of my former students.
He and his fiance' were acosted on the roof of Cobo Hall (the Pistons home before the Palace) by 4 thugs with knives. Unfortunately for them he had a 6th degree black belt in Taekwondo and (? degree) black belts in Karate and Akido
Four on the ground, one with an open/flail (crushed) chest & the rest with various fractures.
From what his fiance' said this happened so fast she only saw the first and last blows
