Heh, the sides of the Enterprise looks like giant propellers or thrusters. not warp drive engines.

Bussard collectors. Supposedly to collect molecular hydrogen for use as reaction mass with antimatter.

If you look closely in TOS views of the enterprise these collectors do rotate.

I still think they look out-of-scale to the part of the ship that's visible.

Even if this is supposed to be an earlier fitting of NCC-1701, they're still some big freaking engines.
