Ouch!
Landed once at Manchester with a terrific crosswind. The pilot literally slammed the plane hard onto the ground. It's a wonder he didn't burst all the tyres.
On another occasion, with a strong wind (don't know the direction), the aircraft bounced 5 times before settling on the ground. The captain stood by the front doorway as we disembarked. I asked him innocently whether the flight time counts to the first or last time he hit the ground! Not appreciated!

Seriously, that was one tough landing attempt. Lucky he didn't catch any more ground than he did on that last gust.
Seen some impressive crabs and a lot of go-arounds with B747-400s and DC10s at the old Hong Kong airport in it's day....Comment
