What a load of rubbish. There is absolutely no substance in the "report". Parts of it are common knowledge but most of it must be made up out of thin air. This is what I simply love about American "justice" that papers can publish "reports" to influence potential jurors with no substantiation.Originally posted by KRSESQ View PostHere we go. I think we're at the point where Occam's Razor applies;
the simplest explanation for her running from the room in panic (on security video), anal triangle (posterior perineum) injuries, the blood on the bed, semen on her clothes etc. is that a sexual assault took place, especially in light of this guys past behavior - or should we call it an MO at this point?
Conspiracy theories violate the Razor. Not impossible, but vanishingly unlikely.
As to the story; why "must" it be made up? Because it reveals that aristocrats try to game the system? Horrors!!
As noted before, prior restraint is not done here save in very limited circumstances. If reporters investigate and get info it gets printed. Deal with it.
If indeed such "offers" are being made to her family members in this country that's a prima fascia case of obstruction of justice, a crime in itself. At this point such attempts are really stupid since even if they convinced the maid not to cooperate the State can still prosecute based on the rather extensive evidence they have in hand.Last edited by Dr Mordrid; 25 May 2011, 01:33.Dr. Mordrid

Doc, I suggest you read the "report". No names, no substantiation, just pure speculation, including a so-called verbatim report of the conversation between DSK and the maid, both of whom are uncontactable by the press.
Nobody denies that something fishy took place but it is wrong to assume things that have not been officially published (and wrong even to publish in the media details, especially fiction like this, that could influence the outcome of a trial). The more rubbish like this that is published, the less likely that the trial will progress normally and the more doubt that will be cast on witness's testimony. Could even reverse the outcome (cf. OJ, Jacko).
I don't say DSK is either guilty or not guilty. I just detest assumptions, speculation and trial by media.
BTW, why do you keep erroneously saying he is an aristocrat? He is of ordinary middle-class origin. His father, Gilbert S-K, was a juridical and fiscal consultant, and his mother, Jacqueline Fellus, was a Jewish journalist of Russian and Tunisian origin. His father's family came from Alsace and Lorraine and were certainly not noble. These two Départements were constantly disputed between Germany and France and there is no evidence in either country that the S-Ks were even notable, their Judaism being a great hindrance in both cases. Aristocrat? No! Oligarch? No! Patrician? No! Plutocrat? Perhaps!Last edited by Brian Ellis; 25 May 2011, 03:34.Brian (the devil incarnate)

Just for the record - the conversational details were not made up by the press, they were details in police documents released after the media put in FOIA (Freedom Of Information Act) requests. These are to force compliance with Open Government rules under FOIA. FOIA mandates the vast majority of documents must be availabke to the public and the press, including police documents after the indictment.
Hell, in Michigan our Open Meetings Act even forbids what most would call Executive Sessions.Last edited by Dr Mordrid; 25 May 2011, 03:45.Dr. Mordrid

and today we get a 'copy-cat crime'
Egyptian banker Mahmoud Abdel Salam Omar arrested on sex charges.
And again:
*maid assaulted and locked up
*in a luxury hotel in New-York
*an elderly (former) banker as perpetrator
gee, what are the chances?
maybe DSK is friends with him and told him to do the same thing he did *cough*

He is merely pointing out the fact that there is a lot of speculation going on before the facts. That is independent of whether or not the speculations turn out to be true or not.
Still, for a second similar case, I would also be more weary of copy-cat behavior...

Given the number of complaints the hotel workers unions report, the Wall Street Journal says 1-2 incidents like this per month, the number of hotel rooms in NYC (>75,000) and how many customers the hotels get each year (avg. occupancy = 85%) I'd be shocked if similar cases didn't happen in this time frame.
The problem is bad enough that hotels are issuing staffers panic buttons to call for help and allowing females to now wear trousers instead of the traditional skirts. I also see that the NY legislature is considering mandating panic buttons for hotel staffers.Last edited by Dr Mordrid; 1 June 2011, 19:20.Dr. Mordrid

That DSK's case got a lot better the day after C.Lagarde was appointed head of IMF.
From what I hear she is a lot more pro-USA than DSK was.PC-1

There is a report that woman (from Guinea) was doubling as a prostitute and that she prostituted herself under police protection and is threatened with expulsion from USA. Kahn could now be charged with adultery at worst. He can now sue state of New York for damages.
My thoughts: someone wanted to politically damage him and now that damage has been done or he has complied, the case will be dropped.
