    The danger of science denial

Vaccine-autism claims, "Frankenfood" bans, the herbal cure craze: All point to the public's growing fear (and, often, outright denial) of science and reason, says Michael Specter. He warns the trend spells disaster for human progress.
"For every action, there is an equal and opposite criticism."

    Spot on!

Argue about ethics, law but don't ban science. I run into people denying facts or talking about things they don't understand all the time.

There is a book "Revolt of the Masses" from 1930 which says that barbarians which will destroy our society won't come from outside but from within. People become specialized and they remain uneducated in other areas but they feel compelled to influence or make decisions regarding them. So the people as a mass become ignorant and can have ideas pumped into them. As 20th century has taught as, this can end badly.
